Ketterle Receives Prestigious Prize
Wolfgang Ketterle, a principal investigator in the Fundamental Physics program of
Code UG and the John D. MacArthur Professor of Physic at MIT, received the Dannie-Heineman
Prize of the Academy of Sciences, Göttingen, Germany. The prize was awarded during
the session of the Academy on November 26, 1999 with the citation "for the experimental
verification and convincing demonstration of the coherence of a Bose-Einstein condensate
of ultracold sodium atoms". Ketterle also received the London Award earlier in the year.
