JPL Fundamental Physics Team Tells Microgravity Research Story at Open House
The largest crowds ever to attend a JPL Open House were presented displays and
demonstrations at the booths for Fundamental Physics in Space. Visitors gathered
to see the effects of reduced gravity at the drop tower, and they were shown the
great sensitivity of superconducting instruments. Demonstrators told why investigators
in the microgravity program can improve their measurement results enormously by
performing their experiments in orbit. The research topics that the investigators
in our program study were illustrated, and models of the facilities used to support
the experiments on the International Space Station were shown. Over 20 volunteers
supported this outreach effort over the two days of the Open House.
