DYNAMX Team Operates Cryogenic Probe
The Critical Dynamics in Microgravity (DYNAMX) team at the University of New Mexico
(UNM) has successfully stabilized the prototype cryogenic probe for the DYNAMX experiment
near the superfluid transition in 4He. This probe will provide an ultra-stable test-bed
for the evaluation of new electronics under development for the LTMPF low temperature
facility for ISS. This prototype apparatus has been used over the last three years for
the scientific definition of DYNAMX, which has resulted in five major scientific publications
during this ground research period. Currently staff members from UNM, JPL, and Ball
Aerospace are using this cryogenic test-bed to evaluate new thermometer and heater
controller designs for the LTMPF facility.
