A recently published textbook on the modern theory of critical phenomena in many-body
systems features the results from the Lambda Point Experiment on the cover. The Lambda
Point Experiment flew on the Space Shuttle in 1992 to obtain the most precise determination
of the properties near of a materiala continuous phase transition. John Lipa of Stanford
University was the principal investigator for LPE. The book is entitled 'Critical
Properties of phi4 Theories' by H. Kleinert and V. Schulte-Frohlinde,
published by World Scientific. The text describes recent developments in the modeling
of both static and dynamic critical effects, for which the LPE results represent one
of the most critical tests.
