New Center for Ultracold Atoms Established at PI Institute
Wolfgang Ketterle reports that MIT has established the Center for Ultracold Atoms.
This is a new NSF-funded center that will initiate experimental and theoretical work
on ultracold atoms at Harvard and MIT (see http://cua.mit.edu/). At the inaugurations,
there were presentations by officials from NSF, MIT and Harvard, and the keynote
speech was given by W.D. Phillips (Nobel laureate, and also a Fundamental Physics PI)
from NIST. The NASA Fundamental Physics work at MIT conducted by Ketterle's group
will benefit from the environment of the new center.
