MISTE Project Scientist Develops Electronics Board for SQUID
Dr. Inseob Hahn at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Project Scientist for the Microgravity
Scaling Test Experiment (MISTE), has published a paper that reports on the design
and evaluation of a convenient DSP-based controller for a superconducting quantum
interference device (SQUID). The paper, titled "A digital signal processor based
dc SQUID controller," has recently been accepted for publication in the April
2001 issue of the Reviews of Scientific Instruments. The authors have applied
this new technique to a high-resolution thermometer (HRT) readout system for
low temperature experiments. The paper also describes how the DSP controller
can be applied to flux counting and to proportional-integration (PI) temperature
control.
