Project Scientist Speaks to Students and Community
Dr. Melora Larson of JPL, project scientist for the Low Temperature Microgravity Physics
Facility (LTMPF), gave the opening lecture for the 61st series of "What Physicists Do" at Sonoma
State University. Her talk was entitled "Low Temperature Research on the International Space
Station." She described the history of Fundamental Physics research in space, and she described
the development of the LTMPF for the ISS. The audience of students and members of the community
left with a new appreciation of the science that is enabled by the space station. Dr. Larson came
to the attention of the organizers of the lecture series through the web page profiling the women
of microgravity science at http://microgravity.nasa.gov/WOMEN/.
