Clock Project Makes the Front Page
The Thursday June 21 edition of the Hartford Courant newspaper ran a front-page article
featuring a photograph of PI Kurt Gibble of Yale University and his Ph.D. student Chad Fertig.
The story explained how laser cooling of the atoms would improve the accuracy of the clock,
and that operating the clock on the ISS would give even better results. Applications for
this improved accuracy are described as improved Global Positioning Systems, and helping
to define the international second. The article and photo are available at: |
